Title: Beautiful impressionistic modern jazz with slight fusion echoes
Born in Moscow in 1962 and living in the U.S.A. since 1991, the pianist, composer and composer YELENA ECKEMOFF has been known for using stories, poems and biblical texts as sources of inspiration for her compositions since her first solo release. In her latest work, “Romance Of The Moon”, she set 13 poems by the Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) to music – purely instrumental. Together with the Italian musicians Paolo Fresu (trumpet, flugelhorn), Riccardo Bertuzzi (electric guitar), Luce Bulgarelli (double bass) and Stefano Bagnoli (drums), an album was created that more than deserves the name “Gesamtkunstwerk”. The 28-page booklet of the CD contains English translations of every poem used for this album, written by ECKEMOFF, and the paintings on the cover were also painted by her. For a better understanding, she even went so far as to translate all the texts into Italian for the accompanying musicians. The result is beautiful impressionistic modern jazz with slight fusion echoes, in which each individual musician has been given all the possibilities of development and both acoustic and electric instruments harmonize perfectly with each other. Die 1962 in Moskau geborene und seit 1991 in den U.S.A. lebende Pianistin, Komponistin und Komponistin YELENA ECKEMOFF ist seit ihrer ersten Solo-Veröffentlichung dafür bekannt, Erzählungen, Gedichte und auch biblische Texte als Inspirationsquellen ihrer Kompositionen zu verwenden. In ihrem neuesten Werk, „Romance Of The Moon“ vertonte sie 13 Gedichte des spanischen Lyrikers und Dramatikers Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) – rein instrumental. Das Ergebnis ist wunderschöner impressionistischer Modern Jazz mit leichten Fusion-Anklängen, bei dem jedem einzelnen Musiker alle Möglichkeiten der Entfaltung gelassen wurden und sowohl akustische als auch elektrische Instrumente perfekt miteinander harmonieren. Musik, die die Phantasie des Hörers anregt, noch ehe das jeweilige Gedicht überhaupt gelesen wurde.
