As far as I can recall, for quite some time now, weeks with a holiday have seen the release of only those titles that would have little chance of achieving high initial sales figures even during a full workweek. “Niche repertoire” is what the industry calls it, and that is certainly what we’re dealing with here, issue after issue.

Take, for example, pianist YELENA ECKEMOFF, who has just released her 23rd CD, *Rosendals Garden*. It’s a double album recorded as a trio with bass, cello, and drums. It features 11 extended pieces in which she translates her impressions of the Scandinavian landscape into musical stories. A harmonious blend of classical training and the art of jazz improvisation.
