Classical music, original melodies, jazz, fusion and world music are combined with inspiration from the Middle Ages on her new album by keyboard player Yelena Eckemoff, a musician of Russian origin based in the United States. She plays piano, organ, clavichord, harpsichord and celesta on the album. The music on the album creates a unified story, with each song evoking a different aspect of medieval life – we find songs called Country Inn, Cathedral, Battle, Knighthood, Alchemist or  Tournament. In addition to the keyboards, the album features rock guitar and flute, improvisation plays a big role, but the transitions between individual styles are smooth and form part of the story. The album is called Scenes from the Dark Ages and has its roots in the author’s childhood, when she was fascinated by fairy tales and stories from the Middle Ages – the project was created from original songs with a flavor of progressive rock and jazz, which Yelena Eckemoff reworked for live musicians years later.

Klasickou hudbu, vlastní melodie, jazz, fusion a world music propojuje s inspirací středověkem na svém novém albu hráčka na klávesové nástroje Yelena Eckemoff, hudebnice ruského původu usazená ve Spojených státech. Sama na albu hraje na klavír, varhany, klavichord, cembalo a celestu. Hudba na albu tvoří jednolitý příběh s tím, že každá skladba evokuje jiný aspekt středověkého života – najdeme zde skladby nazvané Venkovská hospoda, Katedrála, Bitva, Rytířstvo, Alchymista nebo Turnaj. Vedle kláves na albu zní rocková kytara, flétna, velkou roli hraje improvizace, ale přechody mezi jednotlivými styly jsou plynulé a tvoří součást příběhu. Album se jmenuje Scenes from the Dark Ages a má kořeny v autorčině dětství, kdy ji fascinovaly pohádky a příběhy ze středověku – projekt vznikl z původních skladeb s příchutí progresivního rocku a jazzu, které Yelena Eckemoff po letech přepracovala pro živé hudebníky.
