Yelena Eckemoff is exceptionally imaginative and hardworking. After more than 20 albums, she devotes herself to medieval harmonies and structures on “Scenes from the Dark Ages.” Tone sequences and melodies reminiscent of ballad singers are woven into a modern jazz interpretation. And not only that, played with a rocking electric guitar and bass, her medieval music sounds more like prog rock than country love.
