On the opposite pole and as proof of diversity, the pianist who is always surprising, stands Yelena Eckemoff, born in Moscow and established in New York, fortunately with her catalog of her L & H Production label found at Andante store in Bucharest. The organizers of the concerts and festivals in Ro would have to take a look at it, so that by 2010 there is a name like “to watch / follow” and maybe the time to be invited to sing to us if it has never been, too often we have been “jumping” as a country on touring maps that also included areas east of us …

Coming to the piano’s discography collection, starting from the new disc with the same Manu Katch é (present on the 3rd album in this post!), The artist puts on music as the title suggests, 14 spectral colors representing each chronological and a distinct period in her life, after having dealt with the sense of smell, along with a Finnish team, on the double Blooming Tall Phlox (2016):

Urmează completarea la colecția discografiei pianistei plecând de la noul disc în care ajutată de același Manu Katch é(prezent pe al 3-lea album în această postare!), artista pune pe muzică   așa cum sugerează și titlul, 14 culori spectralereprezentând fiecare cronologic și câte o perioadă distinctă din viața ei , după ce se ocupase și de simțul mirosului,  alături de o echipă finlandeză, pe dublul Blooming Tall Phlox (2016):

I first knew Russian pianist, who has been living for 25 years in New York, from Yelena Eckemoff Quintet – A Touch of Radiance (L & H Production, 2014) – recorded with her American companions like Mark Turner, Joe Locke, George Mraz and Billy Hart. This time, there is another self-produced album at her own record label and packed with the 14 musical themes, original poems and original paintings (see the covers) created by one and the same author. It is supported, as before, by all-star dream team, made up of not the less well-known Chris Potter: tenor & soprano saxophones, flute, bass clarinet; Adam Rogers: electric guitar; Drew Gress: double bass; Gerald Cleaver: Drums.

Critic John Kelman who reviewed the double set, concluded that “In the shadow of a cloud,” … with its explicit spontaneity and the unexpected “feeling” … is her most eminent and impressive album so far.” In the same article he mentioned her collaborations with the well-known Norwegian musicians Arild Andersen, Jon Christensen, Mats Eilertsen, and Tore Brunborg, along with her previous albums: Yelena Eckemoff Quintet – Blooming Tall Phlox -2 CD- (L & H Production, 2017) recently with a group Finnish with Olavi Louhivouri (drums) and Verneri Pohjola (trumpet) -… and Yelena Eckemoff Trio – “Glass Song” (2013) and “The Lions” (2015.)

Pe pianista de origine rusă stabilită de 25 ani la New York o știam de pe Yelena Eckemoff Quintet – A Touch of Radiance (L&H Production, 2014), atunci tot cu americani acompaniatori, respectiv Mark Turner, Joe Locke, George Mraz și Billy Hart. De data asta, pe un album autoprodus tot la casa proprie de discuri și oferind la pachet cu cele 14 teme muzicale poezii și picturi deasemenea originale (vezi coperțile) create de una și aceeași autoare, o susține un „all star dream team” cu care cântă parcă dintotdeauna, format din nu mai puțin cunoscuții Chris Potter: tenor & soprano saxophones, flute, bass clarinet; Adam Rogers: electric guitar; Drew Gress: double bass; Gerald Cleaver: drums.

Criticul John Kelman a luat la analizat piesă cu piesă dublul set pentru a concluziona că „La umbra unui nor”, „…cu spontaneitatea lui fără echivoc și neașteptatul „feeling”…este cel mai eminent și impresionant album de până acum”, în articol fiind amintite și colaborările cu reputații muzicieni norvegieni Arild Andersen, Jon Christensen, Mats Eilertsen și Tore Brunborg odată cu anterioarele albume Yelena Eckemoff Quintet – Blooming Tall Phlox -2 CD- (L&H Production, 2017) -scos recent cu un grup finlandez, cu Olavi Louhivouri (drums) și Verneri Pohjola (trumpet)-…și Yelena Eckemoff  Trio – „Glass Song” (2013) și „The Lions” (2015)
