Double bassist George Mraz, known for his work with a slew of jazz greats (Oscar Peterson, Charles Mingus, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, and Carmen McRae, just to name a few) has lent his talents to pianist Yelena Eckemoff’s latest, A Touch of Radiance.

The album, which is attributed to the Yelena Eckemoff Quartet, is the first to feature Eckemoff playing in more than a trio. With a background in both classical music and jazz, her vision is a singular and challenging one.

“She has her own thing – it is not a copy of another person’s music like you run into almost all the time,” Mraz said.
